Eclipse watchers are advised to avoid looking at the sun directly with the naked eyes, through a telescope or binoculars as these may cause damage to the eyesight. Proper solar filters or eclipse glasses must be used for observation.

A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth. It is an uncommon celestial event as the three bodies are rarely perfectly aligned. The next partial solar eclipse visible in this country is set to occur next year on January 15, 2010.
